Buddy Program

Starting to study at a new university can be stressful for both international exchange students and first semester students. Therefore, the TUM Department of Governance has decided to start a buddy program to support these two groups at the beginning of their studies at TUM.

Being a buddy does not mean providing full-time support. Rather, volunteering as a buddy offers the opportunity to meet international students from our partner universities, to communicate in different languages, to get to know the traditions and cultures of other countries and to receive bonus points for your own application for one of our exchange programs.

Tasks and Benefits of Being a Buddy

Your Tasks as a Buddy Include

  • Supervision of one or two exchange students or students from abroad at the beginning of their studies at TUM. You will appreciate advice on the curriculum and administrative formalities on site
  • Giving international students an insight into life in Munich
  • Support exchange students in improving their language skills

Advantages for You as a Buddy

  • Acquire intercultural skills and international contacts
  • Expand your foreign language skills
  • Collect bonus points for your own application for our Erasmus+ exchange programs and faculty partnerships
  • Receive first-hand information about our partner universities

In the e-mail, you are welcome to indicate your interest in specific countries. This can help you to get more information about a country or university where you would like to spend a semester abroad. We will try to take your preferences into account, but cannot give you a complete guarantee.

We look forward to receiving your application!
