Host Ilse Aigner congratulated the HfP: “The Munich School of Politics and Public Policy is also a school for democracy! Because I am firmly convinced that explanation can prevent outrage. Here, the university asks questions and tries to provide answers through research and teaching. On behalf of the Bavarian State Parliament and also on a personal level, I would like to say thank you and congratulations!”
Prof. Urs Gasser, Rector of the HfP, emphasized: "From the HfP's point of view, the greatest guarantee for a resilient democracy is not only the defense of proven structures, but above all the forward-looking design of the new order. This requires not only the best technologies, but also innovation in the social operating system itself. With a focus on the common good, universities and colleges can be important sources of inspiration and partners in this endeavor."
Founded in 1950 by the Bavarian State Parliament, the HfP emerged as an important political educational institution in the still young Federal Republic of Germany and remains true to its mission to this day: to equip young people with the skills to actively shape democracy and contribute their ideas.
Under the roof of the Technical University of Munich, the HfP has developed further over the past 11 years and today stands for innovative research and teaching at the interface of politics and technology. With its own think tank (TUM Think Tank), it also serves as a space for dialogue and joint forward thinking.
We would like to thank Minister Markus Blume (Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts) and Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann (President of the Technical University of Munich) for their inspiring welcoming remarks, as well as Prof. Ursula Münch (Director of the Academy for Political Education in Tutzing am Starnberg), Prof. Lydia Grün (President of the University of Music and Theatre Munich (HMTM)), Marie Zinkl (GTS Student Council), and Prof. Manon Westphal (Professorship of Political Theory and Philosophy | Munich School of Politics and Public Policy) for the exciting panel discussion.
