Resumé
Dr. Magdalena Gutowska joined the Environmental and Climate Policy Chair in 2025 as a Sustainability Manager. In this role, she works to strengthen collaboration between the School of Social Sciences and Technology and the TUM Sustainability Office, aiming to strategically expand the impact of university innovations at the intersection of research, policy, and society.
Previously, she was the lead of the climate and energy portfolio within the Foresight and Strategic Planning Initiative at Politecnico di Torino. From 2019 to 2022, she taught Marine Policy at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Earlier, she served as a Policy Fellow of the California Council on Science and Technology, in the California Senate Environmental Quality Committee from 2017 to 2018.
Dr. Gutowska also contributed to The Future Ocean Cluster of Excellence as a Postdoctoral Fellow, with her research on the biological impacts of ocean acidification. She earned her PhD in 2009 from the University of Bremen in the Integrative Ecophysiology Section of the Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. She was a Fulbright Fellow to Germany in 2004.
