The Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube) uses the unique agglomeration of actors in the fields of mobility innovation to turn Munich into a pioneer for sustainable and transformative mobility innovations. The goal of the cluster is to test and research leap innovations in the mobility sector and develop scalable solutions with model character for Germany and worldwide.
The Chair of Climate and Environmental Policy is involved in the integration project “Responsible Mobility, Governance and Innovation” (ReMGo). ReMGo researches the social and political context that the innovation projects and the MCube cluster are confronted with. We analyze the policy field of transport transition with regard to sustainability and climate goals and policy instruments in the European multi-level system. The aim is to understand how the MCube cluster fits into various institutional and policy frameworks and actor fields - locally, regionally, in Germany, in the EU and globally. Policy developments relevant to MCube are monitored and fed back into the management of the cluster. ReMGo supports the cluster in fulfilling its important responsibility to ensure that research activities contribute in a meaningful way to national and European climate and sustainability goals related to transport.
