Amal Tobich is a doctoral candidate at the TUM SEED Center, Technical University of Munich, specializing in decentralized energy governance in the Global South. Her research explores the intersection of regulatory frameworks, civic engagement, and local empowerment to drive inclusive and sustainable energy transitions, contributing to SDG 7: Clean and Affordable Energy for All.
Amal holds two Master’s degrees: one in Global Politics and Society from the University of Milan, where she specialized in global inequalities and political economy, and another in Public Administration from the American University in Cairo, where her thesis focused on the role of civil society in youth inclusion reforms in Tunisia and Egypt.
Currently, Amal is an Associate Fellow at the UN System Staff College (UNSSC), focusing on governance, partnerships, and digital transformation within the UN. She previously spent four years with the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia’s Innovation Team as an E-learning, Outreach, and Social Media Expert, where she helped develop and implement the Digital Crowdfunding Academy, empowering civil society organizations across Africa and the Middle East. Her work emphasized digital innovation and multilingual, participatory learning platforms to enhance community engagement.
Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, Amal excels in creating culturally sensitive and inclusive outreach strategies. She has received multiple fellowships, including the DAAD SEED Fellowship, the African Graduate Fellowship (American University in Cairo), the Caux Scholars Program (Switzerland), and the Democratic Resilience Center Fellowship (Hamburg).
With over five years of experience in international institutions, youth-led organizations, and NGOs, Amal combines academic research, policy analysis, and hands-on experience to advance sustainable, participatory governance in the MENA region and the Global South.
