100 Voices - One Planet

"100 Voices - One Planet" (100 VOP) is a student group that collects voices from the 100 countries most affected by climate change.

The initiative emerged in spring 2020 during the course "Civil Society and Technological Change" at the Hochschule für Politik. The students were asked to create a civil society group that uses and/or questions modern technologies. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, large-scale protests à la Fridays for Future were no longer possible. Slowly, the climate crisis disappeared from the political agenda. Thus, the mission of the 100 Voices project was born: to make the impacts of climate change in people’s daily lives tangible. By collecting 30-second answers to the question "How does climate change affect you and/or your environment?" 100 Voices creates awareness and empathy for people who are already experiencing climate change today. 100 individuals from the most diverse backgrounds speak about their experiences and raise awareness for global climate injustice.

To date, the group has received 90 voices from 90 different countries and has spoken to over a thousand people worldwide about the climate crisis - from Tahiti to Kathmandu. 100 Voices exhibits the collected testimonies in various storytelling, video and photo formats. The group visits climate conferences and educational institutions, and engages in public advocacy for people-centered climate communication and policy.

Many of the voices are available on the website via an interactive map. Participants are still sought from these countries. 

100 Voices always welcomes new members, be it students, as well as anyone else concerned about climate impacts. English is the working language, and the weekly meetings take place on Mondays at 6pm on Zoom or in person at the TUM Think Tank, Richard-Wagner-Strasse 1.
