Academic Background
Dominic Heinz is a political scientist with a focus on the theory of policy entanglement. From October 2019 to September 2020, he was a research assistant at the Chair of Policy Analysis.
After completing his PhD and first postdoctoral project, Dominic Heinz worked on trust in political institutions at the Institut Sciences Politique Lyon (respectively, Alistair Cole) and Cardiff University (respectively, Ian Stafford). Before his doctorate, Dominic Heinz worked at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) in Cologne and at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES).
Research Interests
His research interests lie in the coordination of governments and how collective and individual actors work together to solve problems. In teaching, Dominic Heinz focuses on the German political system and the aspect of policy change. After applying the theory in his doctoral thesis to federalism reforms in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, he was able to adapt the theory to school and budget policy under the guidance of Arthur Benz.
