Résumé
Christian Hagemann had been a post-doctoral research fellow at the Professorship for Policy Analysis at the Bavarian School of Public Policy. Christian is interested in topics at the intersection of policy analysis, comparative politics, and international relations. He has a special focus on the implementation of EU policies in the new member and candidate countries of the EU, as well as in its neighbourhood. In his dissertation, he inquired why some member states struggle to utilize their EU funds, and contributed a political perspective to the previously capacity-dominated discussions on absorption. When it comes to methods, Christian is interested in comparative designs using fuzzy-set QCA or case study approaches, as well as research focusing on causal mechanisms via process tracing. A more recent focus of his work is the utilization of renewable energy sources, particularly in the context of the Energiewende in Germany and the expansion of renewable electricity production across the German federal states, or Bundesländer. Christian has studied political science, law, and communication studies in Münster, Munich, and Cluj-Napoca (Romania), and earned a PhD (summa cum laude) from the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich. This is also where he worked before as a research fellow at the Professorship for Comparative Politics of Central and Eastern Europe/Eurasia. Christian has also gained experience outside of academia, having supported the German Foreign Office and several think tanks.
