Project seminar "Digital Sustainability Transformation of, by and for the TUM"
Idea
The project seminar forms the second element of the module. In this project-based seminar, students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge on topics related to digitainability - i.e., promoting sustainable digitization or digital sustainability. Throughout the semester, students are expected to develop their own project and present an initial pitch of their idea. Therefore, we offer a wide range of topics to choose from: For example, individual elements in TUM's sustainability assessment can be addressed, and work can be done on concrete solutions at the various TUM locations. Or, projects on digital sustainability transformation can be implemented in accordance with the idea of service learning, in collaboration with partners from business and society. Our team actively supports students in the planning and implementation of their projects, providing a seminar that offers ample room for initiative and creativity, as well as mutual exchange and peer-to-peer feedback.
Plan
The course is structured as follows: It begins with an introductory workshop to discuss key digitization issues and develop initial project ideas. These ideas are then further developed in the following workshops, utilizing design thinking, project management, and storytelling. Each project team must present its ideas to its fellow students during the semester. The course concludes with a student-led conference, for which relevant stakeholders are also invited.
The seminar will be held on the following dates (for more specific details, see below):
- Friday November 5th 2021 & Saturday November 6th 2021
1.5 days - introduction, getting to know each other & idea development (presence in the rooms of the HfP) - Friday November 19th 2021 / Saturday November 20th 2021

The module has already started in the last semester; new participants from all study programs at TUM are welcome to join. This semester, it is possible to participate only in the seminar and earn 3 ECTS credits for this course. Students must actively participate in the seminar; grading is based on the presentation of the project and the final report (50% each). In addition to the seminar, a lecture series will be offered, for which students can enroll separately (also 3 ECTS). The seminar will be held in English.

The third block date serves to further develop the project ideas. In addition to continuing the design thinking workshop, storytelling strategies will be taught. The trainers will again lead the 1.5-day workshop from UnternehmerTUM. On Saturday afternoon, Matthias Lehner will present various project management strategies and apply them to the students' projects through practical exercises.
The project seminar will take place online via Zoom at the following times.

Content
The fourth block date focuses entirely on the project presentation: here, the project groups are to pitch their initial ideas. There are no limits to the presentation style - e.g., poster session, presentation, storyboard, video clip, etc. In addition to the peer-to-peer feedback, other cooperation partners will comment on the presented ideas and give suggestions for further development. The presentations thus represent a significant milestone for the project's further development.
The project seminar will take place online via Zoom at the following times.
- Friday, 21 January 2022; 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
