The Paris Climate Agreement marked a significant milestone in global efforts to combat climate change. Almost 10 years later, however, disillusionment is spreading. Global climate policy efforts are either insufficient or too timid to achieve the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. For this reason, climate clubs such as the Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) are becoming increasingly important. In a new presentation, Florentine Kloppenborg will explain what such phase-out initiatives are all about and what role they play in global climate policy.
