As the leader of an academic institution devoted to democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, I'm heartbroken by the unimaginable loss and devastation caused by Hamas' attack against citizens in Israel and the war in Israel and Gaza as it now unfolds. Acknowledging the vastly different views of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, our institutional commitment to dialogue and empathy remains steadfast during this time of extraordinary crisis.
