DEBAT&S

Balancing Trust and Skepticism in the Era of Social Media

DEBAT&S investigates online learning behavior and the sharing of (false) information on social media by children and adolescents. On the one hand, the aim is to analyze the behavior of the users, but on the other hand also the information to which the children and adolescents are exposed. In addition, it aims to assess how the presentation of information affects the detection and sharing of (false) information on social media in order to understand the cognitive, emotional and social processes underlying people's online decisions. It also focuses on the digital information literacy that children and adolescents possess and the extent to which online information is recognized as true or false. DEBAT&S also provides insights into the developmental trajectories of childrens’ and adolescents' search, comprehension, and exchange of online information.
