Luca Messerschmidt, PhD student at the Chair for International Relations (Prof. Dr. Tim Büthe), has been awarded the 2021/22 Harvard University Post-Graduate Research Fellowship by the Bavarian-American Academy and the Harvard Club München. 

During his time as a visiting researcher at Harvard, Luca Messerschmidt will focus on the political and economic consequences of foreign direct investment (FDI) in developing countries, especially in Africa.  The fellowship will enable him to make use of Harvard's extensive pertinent archives and libraries and to meet in person with the numerous social science experts working on issues related to his dissertation topic.  He will thus also foster the already close relations between the Hochschule für Politik München / TUM School of Governance and Harvard University.
