These are the objectives of the GAMA AG, with which Shruti will be involved:
Provide technical guidance to WHO, UN H6+ agencies and other relevant measurement groups to define a core set of adolescent health indicators, for the purpose of harmonising efforts around adolescent health measurement and reporting;
Promote harmonised guidance on adolescent health measurement, supporting countries and technical organisations in collecting useful data to track progress in the improvement of adolescent health
Adolescents are defined here as young people between the ages of 10 and 19 years. They play a crucial role in achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals. They represent over 16% of the global population, and investments in adolescents now will also benefit their future adult lives and their future children.
UN H6+ partnership agencies are UNAIDS (Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS), UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), UNFPA (formerly UN Funds for Population Activities, now United Nations Population Fund), UNICEF (formerly United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, now UN Children´s Fund), UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women), the World Bank Group, and the WFP (World Food Programme).
