This study provides new evidence from an under-researched region, drawing on data from UNICEF’s Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) across all five Central Asian countries. The research examines the role of gender, birth order, and cultural practices in shaping child growth outcomes, measured through height and weight. The findings reveal strong birth order effects for both boys and girls, but no evidence of gender discrimination in child growth.
This event brought together PhD students from across Bavaria and offered a valuable platform for engaging discussions and constructive feedback from senior professors in the field.
