We are pleased to share that Luise Koch, doctoral researcher at the Professorship of Global Health, participated in the prestigious Oxford-Berkeley Summer Doctoral Programme, hosted by the UC Berkeley School of Information from 14th to 25th of July 2025.
The program brought together 27 doctoral researchers from around the world, specifically aimed at candidates in the final stages of their PhD. Participants represented a wide range of disciplines and research interests, from AI ethics and political communication to public health, digital labour, and social data science. This diversity fostered a uniquely interdisciplinary learning environment and rich peer exchange.
Over the course of two intensive weeks, participants engaged in hands-on workshops, faculty-led seminars, and collaborative discussions on the intersection of data science, social research, and public interest technology.
Each participant also had the opportunity to present and receive feedback on their research. Luise shared her dissertation work on technology-facilitated violence against politically active individuals, contributing to discussions on computational social science and gender in digital spaces.
We congratulate Luise on her participation and thank the Oxford and Berkeley teams for facilitating this outstanding experience. You can view the programme in detail on the corresponding website of Berkeley.
