The prize is endowed with 5000 euros and is awarded annually by the Standing Field Committee for Development Economics of the German Economic Association in close cooperation with KfW Development Bank. The award ceremony took place at this year's German Development Economics Conference in Hanover.
In order to promote the dialogue between science and practice, the prize honours outstanding research that deepens our understanding of how development happens, succeeds or can be promoted. The prize is aimed at young researchers whose doctoral theses combine scientific excellence with practical relevance for development policy.
