Lena Ulbricht currently holds the Professorship of Political Philosophy and Theory for the 2023-2024 academic year. Previously, she was a research group leader at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society and at the Berlin Science Center for Social Research WZB. She examines how theories of power and democracy can contribute to the regulation of digital technologies and platforms. Another focus of her work is the analysis of the power implications of public sector platforms and software and the quantification of populations in modern states.

She completed her habilitation in political science at the University of Bremen with a thesis on governance with digital technologies and the role of the state. Previously, she received her doctorate in political science at the Humboldt University in Berlin with a thesis on policymaking in German federalism. Lena Ulbricht is the elected spokesperson for the DVPW working group on politics and digitalization and co-host of the intersectional feminist podcast Purple Code.

Hagen Schölzel is a research assistant at the Professorship of Political Philosophy and Theory at the Munich School of Politics at the Technical University of Munich for the 2023-2024 academic year. He received his doctorate at the University of Leipzig with a thesis on the genealogy of the political conflict form “guerrilla communication”. He then worked in political theory and communication studies at the universities of Lund, Erfurt, Jena, and Vienna. The topics of his work include theories of the political, emergency politics, the public, digitalization, artistic activism, and strategic communication.

Logina Mahmoud is currently a student assistant at the Professorship of Political Philosophy and theory. She is in her 3rd semester of political science at the TU Munich School of Politics. She graduated from the Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule in Cairo in 2022.

Robert Cornwall is currently a student assistant at the Professorship of Political Philosophy and Theory. He is doing his masters in political science at the LMU Munich. Previously he studied at the University of Potsdam where he completed his bachelors in politics, administration, and organization. His research interests include international cooperation, democracy research, and democracy theory.
