Prof. Dr. Jürgen Pfeffer is Full Professor (Lehrstuhl) of Computational Social Science at the School of Social Sciences and Technology at Technical University of Munich. Before 2016, Prof. Pfeffer has served as Assistant Research Professor of Societal Computing at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.
Jürgen Pfeffer studied computer science at the Vienna University of Technology. After ten years of professional experience in consulting firms and non-university research institutions, he obtained his Doctorate in Business Informatics in 2010. He subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University until he was appointed Assistant Research Professor in 2012.
His research focuses on the analysis of large and dynamic social, political and economic systems as well as the methodological, algorithmic and theoretical challenges that arise from these analyses. Pfeffer's research falls at the intersection of social and computer sciences.
