Prof. Dr. Miranda Schreurs gives a talk at the Program VISTA Researcher Day Event in Norway: Which conditions make the North Sea attractive in the future energy system?

The challenge is now to convert the energy supply from fossil fuels from the underground to renewables harvested from the earth's surface, such as sun, wind, and hydro power. In total, the North Sea's wind resources may in the future cover up to 15% of the surrounding countries' energy consumption. The North Sea's fossil resources and our knowledge of these resources may also play an important role in the transition to a zero-emission society of the future. Increased use of resources from the Earth's surface such as offshore wind, will challenge ocean and biodiversity sustainability. A main topic for the mini research school is: Can the North Sea still be attractive in the energy system of the future?

Miranda Schreurs held the following lecture: The Climate –Energy transition post Ukraina – the role of the North Sea energy resources
