HfP-based researchers receive multi-year grants to study the regulation of corporate power

Three researchers at the Chair for International Relations at the Hochschule für Politik have received multi-year grants from the U.S.-based Economic Security Project to research corporate power and market regulation. Zlatina Georgievaand Vellah Kiguru will build on recent scholarship showing how the dominant tech platforms are taking advantage of unregulated territories and disadvantaged populations in Africa to conduct digital experiments and extract data to increase their global market dominance. Chase Foster, along with Harvard-based economic sociologist Melike Arslan, will be examining the relationship between state aid (subsidy) policies and the growth in corporate monopolization through a comparative-historical study on the US and EU.
