Dr. Daniel F. Schulz is Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow in Global Transformations at the Hochschule für Politik München at the Technical University of Munich for the academic year 2018/19. His research focuses on monetary policy, financial regulation, and the politics of taxation. In particular, he is interested in how ideas, interests, and institutions shape European cooperation in these policy areas in the context of Economic and Monetary Union. Dr. Schulz holds an M.A. in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin (2013) and a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute (2017). Prior to joining TUM, he has been a Research Associate on the ERC-project “Willing to Pay?” (with Sven Steinmo) at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) in Florence and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Victoria on “The Politics of the Euro Crisis: The Creation of New EU Institutions and their Impact on Member States” (SSHRC-project with Amy Verdun). During his fellowship at TUM, Dr. Schulz will carry out fieldwork on macroeconomic policy coordination in the context of the European Semester and offer courses on The Politics of Money (M.Sc. level) and European Economic Integration (B.Sc. level).
