Academic Career and Research Areas
Nicolas Krieger has been a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Professorship of Political Economy since 2025. His research and teaching focus on security policy in general, and the political economy of military innovation in particular. In his doctoral project, he investigates the political, institutional, economic, and discursive conditions that facilitate or hinder military innovation, with a special emphasis on German and European dynamics following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Additionally, he teaches courses on the interplay between technology and military strategy (Strategic Studies).
He studied Political Science at LMU Munich and War Studies at King’s College London, supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Max Weber Programme) and the DAAD. Before joining TUM, he worked as a research and teaching assistant at LMU. For nearly ten years, he has also been actively involved in various roles promoting educational equity, currently with a particular focus on first-generation university students.
