Impact-Oriented Evaluation of Smart City Projects
The Urban Digitainability Lab, in collaboration with the Professorship of Policy Analysis, has published a practical guide that incorporates findings from accompanying academic research and provides step-by-step instructions for measuring impacts.
This guide is intended to help municipalities formulate clear impact goals—ideally at the very start of a project—so that, over the course of the evaluation process and in parallel with the project’s progress, they can develop appropriate indicators, establish a system for continuous monitoring, and communicate the results accordingly.
The guide was developed in collaboration with the smart city teams from five cities (Munich, Regensburg, Gütersloh, Kempten, and Freiburg).
