The student team “GridnAItion” prevailed against over 70 teams in the nationwide competition and was able to convince the jury with their idea: With the help of AI forecasts, the team wants to overcome the thermal inertia of heat engines. In doing so, they want to enable the use of district heating networks as power to heat to power electricity storage systems and thus make an important contribution to the energy transition. This year's university competition "Digital Future Challenge" had the motto "Shaping the future digitally" and is organized by the D21 initiative and the Deloitte Foundation under the patronage of Federal Minister Dr. Volker Wissing.
