We are pleased to welcome each and every one of you who will begin their studies with us and thus a new phase in their lives at the beginning of the lecture period of the winter semester 2020/21 or who will continue their studies at our institution. We are glad that you are all with us!
We will do everything in our power to support you in your start into the new semester and into this important phase of your life. We want you to live, deepen and share your talents and passions for politics and technology with us. If you then continue on your successful career path, you should always be able to remember your time at the Hochschule für Politik München with joy and pride.
Protecting - and supporting everyone to make an impact
The necessary corona measures (www.tum.de/corona) will not stop us from giving you the best we have to offer: a demanding but also multifaceted interdisciplinary education at the interface of politics and technology. We are well aware of our important role in the education of a generation of young people whose lives have been so affected by the pandemic and we are making every effort - despite the current situation - to enable you to study successfully.
The HfP premises will be open until further notice to students again at the beginning of the lecture period (as of October 30, 2020; 15:00h). In order to protect our HfP community, to reduce and minimise risks, we have initiated a number of hygiene, health and safety measures to protect you. Staying on the HfP campus is currently only permitted for study-related purposes. Please avoid gatherings of all kinds and keep the minimum distance. HfP will remain closed to the general public until further notice.
This winter semester will be largely digital / partly hybrid. The HfP is open for lectures. In our study rooms you will find self-study opportunities - although due to corona conditions only with limited capacity (26 places in room H.101 and 18 places in room H.102). Before entering the study rooms, please check with the help of the QR code whether there are still free places available. The learning rooms can be used in two shifts: from 9.00-12.50 and from 13.00-16.50. The first come - first serve principle applies. Please note that the maximum seating capacity may not be exceeded and that masks are compulsory throughout the building. All requirements for the use of the learning rooms can be found here.
New professorships - expanded opportunities
We are starting this winter semester with five new professorships:
- Prof. Dr. Timm Betz (International Political Economy)
- Prof. Dr. Katrin Paula (Global Security & Technology)
- Prof. Dr. Amy Pond (Politics of Finance)
- Prof. Dr. Janina Steinert (Global Health)

I would also like to welcome the new colleagues and wish them a good start.
The Hochschule für Politik München / TUM School of Governance continues to grow unabated. With our new colleagues, whom we have appointed mainly from abroad, we can further expand our research and study opportunities and open up internationally important, future-oriented subject areas.
