Last Friday, we celebrated the graduation of 150 students from 25 nations at the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy. Congratulations! We look forward to see your impact as future leaders in society, industry, and education!

HfP Rector Prof. Urs Gasser reflected on the graduates’ shared learning journey and the opportunities and challenges of studying in the age of generative AI. At a time when knowledge is available at our fingertips, he emphasized the need for people who think critically, build bridges, shape democratic technological transformation, and put their talents in service of society.

Keynote speaker Prof. Miranda Schreurs, HfP Professsor of Climate and Environmental Policy, highlighted the school's unique role at the intersection of technology, science, and public policy. She praised graduates' ability to think across disciplines and encouraged them to apply these skills to challenges such as climate change, plastic pollution, conflict, and democratic transformation in order to shape a more sustainable and resilient future.

In his last graduation speech before retirement, Prof. Gerhard Müller, Senior Vice President of the Technical University of Munich for Academic and Student Affairs, traced societal change from the Boomer generation to Gen Z. Democracy, he argued, is not delivered, but continually created and sustained. He expressed confidence in the graduates' ability to think critically, engage with different perspectives, and change the world through their understanding of politics and technology.

The graduates Johannes Boss and Lilli Remmers highlighted personal growth and community. Boss reminded his fellow graduates that university is not only about learning and career development, but also self-discovery. His message: pause, appreciate how far you have come, and remember: “Du bist gut genug.” Remmers celebrated the HfP spirit of critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and mutual support, strengths that will guide graduates on their future paths.
