Team of the Professorship of Global Health at"Interventions in Context"-Workshop of the TUM Center for Global Health
Several researchers from Professorship of Global Health and collaborative institutions contributed to the discussions across thematic sessions on the second day of the event.
In Session 4, “Social Worlds of Interventions”, participants explored how health interventions are shaped by the social environments in which they operate. Contributions were made by Manuela de Allegri, Shruti, Manuela, Sholpan Primbetova, and Nikolay. The session brought together perspectives from researchers involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of public health interventions across different contexts.
Sholpan Primbetova (Global Health Research Centre of Central Asian, Almaty, Kazakhstan) is a co-investigator of the Acceptability Study of Lenacapavir (LEN) in Kazakhstan and collaborates closely with Nikolay on this research.
Later in the day, Session 6, “Fieldwork in Practice: Negotiation, Emotion, and the Making of Data,” examined the practical realities of conducting fieldwork in global health research. The session featured contributions from Shruti, Lisa Reigl, Reshmi Mukerji, Alice Sinkeet, Mary Maghanga, and Nikolay, highlighting methodological and ethical challenges researchers encounter in the field.
Across sessions, participants reflected on several key themes, including community participation and power dynamics in global health research, the evolving role of social scientists within interdisciplinary projects, and the tension between producing knowledge for academic publication and generating evidence that informs policy and practice.
The workshop concluded with a collaborative editorial brainstorming session focused on future publications emerging from the ADOPT Social Science Program.
