In an interview with the Abendzeitung, Janina Steinert sheds light on the key findings of the new study on digital violence against politically active people in Germany, which was conducted in cooperation with the organisation HateAid and in collaboration with Luise Koch and Dr. Angelina Voggenreiter. In the study, 1,114 politically active people were asked about their experiences with digital violence and its impact on their political engagement. More than half of all respondents have experienced digital violence themselves (women 63%, men 53%). 22% of female respondents and 10% of male respondents who have experienced online violence and hate are considering withdrawing from politics or their political work.
