Guest Researcher from KNUST Ghana visits Professorship of Global Health
From 18–29 March, Dr. Adwoa Gyamfi, a qualified nurse and Senior Researcher at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, is visiting the Professorship of Global Health at TUM.
With the support of two Ghanaian research assistants, Dr. Gyamfi has conducted qualitative data collection through in-depth interviews with mothers and fathers of young infants, as well as healthcare practitioners working with families during the pre- and postnatal periods. The research explores lived experiences of breastfeeding, potential connections to conflict and violence, and identifies existing gaps in support structures for lactating mothers, parents, and their babies. During Dr. Gyamfi's stay, the team will analyse the data and work on a joint scientific manuscript.
As part of her visit, Dr. Gyamfi will deliver an open talk titled “Breastfeeding Support through an Equity Lens Approach” on Thursday, 26 March at 10:00 am in Room H.414 at the Hochschule für Politik.
Participants are also welcome to join the talk online via Zoom:
