Ph.D. Title: Regimes Are More Than Climate Agreements? Identifying the Politics and Incentives in Taiwan’s Climate Policy Making
Milan Chen is a doctoral student in School of Governance at the Technical University of Munich. Her research focuses on global environmental politics, climate change policy and politics, and energy transition.
Her current research – mapping out Taiwan’s climate change policy – investigates the politics and incentives in climate policy making of the non-party member to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Her research also examines climate policy as soft power, the diffusion of environmental norms and standards, and the role of multinational corporation in climate politics.
Prior to undertaking doctoral studies, Milan worked at the UNFCCC as research intern focusing on the development of Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage. She received her M.A. in international studies from National Chengchi University, where she focused on humanitarian diplomacy in Taiwan. She was also Ethics Fellow for the Future at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, where she conducted research on ethics and climate change.
