Bringing Politics and Technology Together – The Bavarian School of Public Policy (HfP)
Our objective is to give students a thorough understanding of Political Science in all its different facets - accompanied by a basic knowledge of the technologies which will be of relevance to tomorrow’s society.
The Bavarian School of Public Policy is a unique institution, focusing on future-oriented, transdisciplinary, and applied research and teaching. In cooperation with the Technical University of Munich (TUM), our school is dedicated to educating the next generation of political scientists.
Technological progress in areas like energy, the environment, climate change, big data, data security, and mobility is having an increasingly important impact on our society. To keep up with tomorrow’s key technologies, the new Bachelor's program at HfP provides an opportunity for students to combine the traditional content of a political science degree with technology modules run by diverse TUM departments.
Since mid-2016, the Bavarian School of Public Policy also has a new address – at “Brienner Forum” on Königsplatz in Munich – in immediate vicinity of its new host university, TUM. Students at the Bavarian School of Public Policy will also be registered at TUM, gives them access to all the same facilities and services as TUM students.
The foundation for this innovative institutional profile, which is unique worldwide, was laid by the Bavarian Parliament at the end of 2014, when it designated TUM as HfP’s new host university. This change was accompanied by a realignment of HfP’s course offerings to focus on the interplay between technology and society.
